ELLIOTT'S POEMS:

ELUSIVE

Our desires deep set, provide hope,
We strech and strive, for these rods,
Shiny and smooth as a stilled pool,
Their surfaces intrigue and seduce,
Some happily attained, others make us the fool.

FEAR

To be victimized by all pangs,
To read between imaginary lines,
One would have to say are signs,
The least of which are: Egocentrism
An acrobat on a high wire, shows more balance as he hangs,
One wonders who harbors the greater fear, the reader or the hanger.

THE CHALLENGE

Precious is your intellect,
Honed by the many hands of time,
Challenge is embraced by you,
The gauntlet discarded by the count of nine.

UNTITLED

We seldom see ourselves truly,
Others, for their reasons, causing
As with spears, pangs or with balm, joy
The lens of a camera, or the reflection of a mirror
Will at times, support one view and then another
But our brains, with its billions of cells
Fed by a continuing reservoir of hemoglobin
With computer like precision
Methodically dispels the ploy.

IDIOPATHESIS

Random in its selection,
Without affection it attacks,
Physically and mentally it twists and concerns,
Nightmarishly awakened, with perfection.

PARANOIA

Insecurity abounds among suspicions and doubts,
Pangs arrive with a quantum like velocity,
Clothing, in a shroudlike hold,
No solace is available.
You try for relief, and
though collosal is the attempt,
Eventually you fold.

COMPULSIVE WORK

Sleep is sparse and irregular,
Awakened, no yawn but the cerebral generator producing,
In a span of fifteen minutes, 24 hours are traversed,
You outdistance Earth's rotation,
Limits are presented solely by your human muscles,
but sleep is sparse and irregular.
